A WORD FROM Pastor Alan - Feb/13

“I had assumed.”  We’ve all said those words at one time or another.  Bad move, eh?  Usually, when we assume, we find out:

A.  We were mistaken.

B.  Partly right, partly wrong.

C.  We missed out on something good.

D.  We perhaps had to apologize to some one.

E.  We felt like we had egg on our face.

F.  We realized how ill thought out our conclusion was.

Our assumptions became a self made prison that lock us in.

It would simply be a whole lot easier not to assume anything wouldn’t it?  It’s human to assume.  Even great prophets of the Bible have settled for assumptions, e.g. Balaam, Samuel.  It is probably easier to assume than to take time to research, investigate and search out truth.  Assuming is quick and easy.  Truth seeking is time consuming.

But the rewards of truth seeking are immense.  We start seeing as God sees.  We learn to look a little deeper and search out the heart of the matter.  We unlock the prison of of our assumptions and come of the box.  We begin to enjoy life as it was meant to be, breathing the fresh air of truth, ready for whatever God is up to, letting Him lead us toward new discoveries.  Want to know more about breaking the power of assumptions?  Please go to the sermon on this site.

Our Vision Statement:

To glorify God by presenting a changeless Christ in a relevant, creative, credible and caring way to people of all ages and walks of life in an environment where individuals can meet the Saviour, worship Him as Lord and grow to their fill potential in Christ through the Holy
Spirit.

Our priorities are threefold:

I - WORSHIP
More than any other reason, we are here to glorify and worship God. In all our services, we have come to meet with Him, hear His voice and obey Him.

II - EVANGELISM
We also bring glory to His name "but presenting a changeless Christ in a relevant, creative, credible and caring way to people of all ages and walks of life." We are in Mt. Uniacke on assignment. The assignment is to build God's kingdom by winning souls to Christ.

III - DISCIPLESHIP
We are also here to nurture one another in the growth process of discipleship. We do this by providing "an environment where individuals can meet the Saviour, worship Him as lord, and grow to their full potential in Christ through the Holy Spirit." As we pursue these priorities of God, let us remember the Lord is with us to favour us and bless us with his presence. "Surely goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives, and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Ps. 23:6
